Nikola Jokic and Coach Mike Malone Ejected in Nuggets’ Victory over Pistons
Denver Nuggets’ Star Player and Head Coach Tossed from Game
DETROIT (AP) – In a surprising turn of events, the Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic and head coach Mike Malone were both ejected during the first half of Monday night’s game against the Detroit Pistons. Despite the early setbacks, the Nuggets managed to secure a 107-103 win.
Jokic’s first technical foul came in the first quarter when he vehemently argued a call. Malone, on the other hand, was ejected for stepping onto the court to dispute a call late in the period. The frustration continued for Jokic, who was tossed from the game after arguing another call with just 1 minute and 22 seconds remaining in the first half.
“I think Nikola was worried about my welfare,” Malone jokingly remarked. “It is tough to watch a game on TV – we were hugging on good plays and I was cursing in Serbian on the bad ones.”
Nikola Jokic’s ejection occurred just moments before halftime during Monday’s game in Detroit.
Despite his early departure, Jokic managed to contribute nine points, five rebounds, and five assists in a mere 15 minutes and 13 seconds of playtime.
The Nuggets, who have been dealing with the absence of the injured Jamal Murray, were able to halt their two-game losing streak with this hard-fought victory. On the other hand, the Pistons suffered their 12th consecutive loss, leaving them with a disappointing 2-12 record for the season.
