Defending Champions Ram and Salisbury Secure Semi-Finals Spot at Nitto ATP Finals
Friday, Turin 2023
Defending champions Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury continued their dominant run at this year’s Nitto ATP Finals on Friday, defeating Rinky Hijikata and Jason Kubler in a thrilling match. Despite already securing a spot in the semi-finals, Ram and Salisbury showcased their exceptional skills and determination, winning the match 5-7, 6-1, 10-2.
The dynamic duo, who have been in outstanding form throughout the tournament, won an impressive 79% of their first-serve points, ultimately sealing their victory after 83 minutes of intense gameplay. With this win, Ram and Salisbury maintain a perfect record of 3-0 in the Red Group.
In the semi-finals, the sixth-seeded Ram and Salisbury will face off against Santiago Gonzalez and Edouard Roger-Vasselin. The other semi-final match will feature Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos against Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden.
Ram and Salisbury have been on a remarkable winning streak in Turin, having triumphed in their past eight matches. Their previous success includes lifting the trophy at last year’s year-end event and securing their third consecutive US Open crown earlier this season.
On the other hand, Australian Open champions Hijikata and Kubler concluded their round-robin play with a disappointing 0-3 record.
