Cydney Clanton Secures Victory at Guardian Championship

The Guardian Championship concluded on Sunday with Cydney Clanton emerging as the champion after a thrilling final round. The tournament, which had been suspended the previous day due to sunlight, resumed early in the morning with the final 61 players heading back out to the Senator Course.

Clanton, a long-time member of the LPGA Tour, showcased her skills and determination throughout the event. After a T11 finish on the LPGA Tour last week, Clanton entered the Guardian Championship with renewed confidence. She started strong, shooting a career-low 9-under round in her first round, and maintained her lead throughout the tournament.

In the final round, Clanton fired a 4-under 68 to secure her third career victory on the Epson Tour. Her exceptional performance over the course of the event demonstrated her ability to hunt down flag sticks and make crucial shots when it mattered most.

“I had a great week last week on the LPGA Tour, and that just kind of sent the confidence in the right direction,” said Clanton. “I was just able to come and execute this week, getting off to a really hot start. After that, I just kind of kept it going throughout the week and am just happy with how I played all week.”

Clanton’s victory was not without challenges, as Miranda Wang posed a strong threat down the stretch. Wang also made four birdies in her last six holes but fell slightly behind due to a double bogey and two bogeys earlier in her round. Nevertheless, Wang’s solo second-place finish propelled her to the No. 11 spot in the Race for the Card standings.
