Concert Golf Partners Acquires Two Premier Private Clubs in Houston

HOUSTON – Concert Golf Partners, a leading owner-operator of private golf and country clubs, has recently acquired two prestigious clubs in the Houston area: Northgate Country Club and Walden on Lake Conroe Golf Club. This strategic move marks Concert Golf’s entry into the Texas market and represents another significant step forward in their mission to enhance premier private country clubs across the United States.

Northgate Country Club, established in 1983, is widely regarded as North Houston’s premier golf club and is the centerpiece of the upscale Northgate Forest community. The club features an 18-hole Championship Golf course designed by renowned architects Bruce Devlin and Robert von Hagge. Additionally, members can enjoy an executive 5-hole course known as the “Fast-Five,” eight lighted tennis courts, three pools, and a clubhouse offering exquisite dining options and social events, including the popular Sunday Brunch.

Walden on Lake Conroe Golf Club, located just 45 minutes north of Northgate, opened its doors in 1976. The club has received numerous accolades, including being ranked as the best course in the Houston area by Golf Digest and the 5th best in the state of Texas. Notably, GOLF Magazine recognized the par 5, 11th hole as one of the top 500 holes in the world. Walden has also hosted prestigious events such as the TGA South Amateur Championship, Women’s Texas Cup, and PGA Korn Ferry Tour Qualifying School. The challenging holes 11 to 13, situated on a peninsula, are affectionately known as the “Walden Triangle,” paying homage to the Bermuda Triangle.

Concert Golf Partners’ acquisition of these two clubs from private club industry veteran Dan McIntyre demonstrates their commitment to preserving and enhancing the clubs’ rich legacies. McIntyre, who purchased Walden in 2004 and Northgate in 2012, carefully selected Concert Golf Partners as his successor after considering various potential buyers.

“It is evident that Concert Golf is dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the culture that I have worked hard to create at the Clubs,” said McIntyre. “Their expertise and efficiency throughout our interactions made the decision an easy one.”

Concert Golf Partners Senior Vice President Jordan Peace expressed excitement about the future of the clubs, stating, “Dan McIntyre has built two exceptional clubs in Houston, and we are thrilled to continue their legacy. We will invest millions of dollars into the Clubs over the coming years, with no cost or assessment to the members, ensuring an exceptional membership experience. While determining the allocation of capital, a significant portion will be dedicated to irrigation improvements.”

In addition to their commitment to enhancing the clubs, Concert Golf Partners will also continue hosting the annual “Golfers Against Cancer” fundraiser at Walden Golf Club. This event, which has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for cancer research, holds a special place in McIntyre’s heart. He expressed concern about the event’s future after his retirement, but Concert Golf immediately agreed to host it at no cost to the organization, solidifying their commitment to philanthropy.
