The Buffalo Sabres have reclaimed goaltender James Reimer from waivers after he was claimed by the Anaheim Ducks on October 7.
Reimer, who was signed to a one-year deal with the Sabres in July, joined the team for their trip to Europe as part of the NHL Global Series. In two starts for the Ducks this season, he maintains an .864 save percentage.
Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen and Devon Levi have been Buffalo’s starting goaltenders throughout the early season. While Luukkonen is currently listed as day-to-day after leaving Monday’s game against Montreal in the third period, his availability for Thursday’s home game against St. Louis hasn’t been ruled out.
The other goaltender on an NHL contract with Buffalo, Felix Sandstrom, is also listed as day-to-day but for Rochester.
Over his extensive career, Reimer boasts a .910 save percentage across 503 games. Notably, he has achieved a save percentage above .900 in all but one of his 15 seasons leading up to the 2023-24 season. With 215 career wins, he ranks among the top active goaltenders, holding eleventh place.
