During ‌the NASCAR Cup Series FireKeepers Casino 400 at ⁣Michigan International Speedway, a last-lap collision occurred between Ryan Blaney ⁣and Chase Elliott.

Elliott,‌ representing Hendrick⁢ Motorsports, appeared to lose control⁤ momentarily, resulting in contact with Blaney’s‍ front left tire. Fortunately, both drivers avoided a major ⁣wreck and⁢ continued in the race, although they suffered significant drops in their positions.

Blaney demonstrated a solid performance, winning Stage 1 and ‌positioning himself for a potential top-5 ‍finish prior to the incident. Starting from sixth and seventh, respectively, Blaney and‌ Elliott ultimately ⁤finished in 18th and 15th place.

After the race, Blaney ‍addressed the‍ media and pointed the finger at Elliott. Jeff Gluck from ⁤The Athletic shared Blaney’s remarks on social media, stating:

“I asked Ryan Blaney what happened on the last lap. ‘Ask the 9.’

“Chase Elliott exited pit road quickly, and I didn’t have the chance to⁣ ask ⁤him.”

This incident could ⁤have serious ramifications, particularly for ⁢Elliott, who is only 10 points behind Tyler Reddick at the top‍ of the regular season standings. Currently trailing Reddick, ‌as‍ well as⁤ Denny Hamlin and Kyle Larson—who also experienced difficulties—Elliott’s road to the⁢ championship appears increasingly challenging. On the flip side, Blaney remains resilient in the playoff rounds, despite being 82 points behind in the regular season standings.
