Football coaching icon Bill Belichick is reveling in his new media role that allows him to analyze the league, yet he has emphasized that he is not retired from coaching following his exit from the New England Patriots without landing another position.
An NFL analyst speculates that a team may soon seek Belichick’s expertise, especially after a dismal start to the 2024 season.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are struggling significantly.
Under Doug Pederson, they currently hold an 0-3 record after suffering a heavy defeat against the Buffalo Bills on Monday night.

In his third year as head coach, Doug Pederson is at the helm of Shad Khan’s Jaguars. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who recently signed a significant extension worth $55 million per year for the next five seasons, has yet to win any of his last eight starts, dating back to the previous season.
Panic is starting to set in for some regarding the Jaguars, and Albert Breer from “The Monday Morning Quarterback” suggests that Belichick could be a candidate if the team decides to part ways with Pederson.
“They’re just a sneaky one with Belichick for me,” Breer mentioned on “The Dan Patrick Show.”
One primary factor for Breer considering Belichick as a possible fit is the existing relationship between Khan and his son, Tony Khan, the team’s chief football strategy officer, and Belichick.

“Tony Khan has cultivated a solid relationship with Bill Belichick … to the extent that when they hired Doug Marrone permanently and removed the interim tag [in 2017], it was primarily based on Belichick’s advice. Bill has had considerable influence on ownership for some time now, and I can’t help but wonder if that’s on their minds at this moment.”

Breer added that, from a business standpoint, bringing in Belichick could be beneficial in South Florida, with “sponsorships to sell and suites to market, among other aspects.”
“He has a residence, I believe, right down the street. I guess down I-95 there in South Florida, so that wouldn’t be a detriment either,” Breer noted.
Earlier this offseason, Belichick was considered a leading candidate for another southern team. The Atlanta Falcons met with him multiple times to discuss their head coaching opening before ultimately choosing Raheem Morris.
Belichick’s coaching legacy is remarkable, boasting six Super Bowl titles during his 24 seasons with the New England Patriots, where he built a dynasty with Tom Brady as quarterback.
After failing to secure a coaching position, it became evident that media organizations had their sights set on the 72-year-old. However, ESPN reported that Belichick would contemplate returning to coaching “only in the right situations with desirable jobs.”
Meanwhile, the Jaguars are attempting to salvage a sinking season. This week, they face a tough challenge against a divisional rival, the Houston Texans, before heading to London to take on the Indianapolis Colts.

“Changes must be made, whether it’s related to play design, personnel, or anything else,” Pederson stated after the loss to Buffalo.
“Everything is being considered, let’s say, and those are all aspects that I need to evaluate. We must analyze them as a staff and implement any necessary adjustments.”

Since joining the Jaguars after Urban Meyer’s exit in 2021, Pederson successfully guided the team to a playoff appearance two seasons ago, pulling off a shocking comeback against the Los Angeles Chargers in the wild-card round.
