The Green⁢ family’s legacy in NASCAR⁤ is significant. Both ‍David Green⁤ and Jeff‍ Green have captured Xfinity Series championships, and now it’s Austin Green, David’s son, who is‌ upholding this family tradition.

Having ⁢embarked‌ on his racing journey at just four years old, Austin began with go-karts before advancing to⁢ bandoleros and legend cars, participating in events like the Summer Shootout‍ at ⁤Charlotte Motor Speedway. His father and uncles inspired him to pursue the same racing aspirations.

“Growing up at ‍a racetrack was a blessing,” Austin remarked. “Being at the track has always felt normal for ⁣me. I enjoy that environment; ‌it’s like a second⁣ home.”

In ⁤2021,⁢ Green began ⁤to explore ⁢Trans-Am, racing on road courses for the first time. His full-time racing career commenced in 2023 after teaming up with Doug Peterson, ⁣owner of Peterson Racing Group.

As a rookie, he celebrated four ‍podium finishes and seven top-10 finishes ‌in ‍the TA2 division.⁢ By‌ the end of the 2023 season, he received⁣ the exciting news ⁣of⁢ a part-time opportunity in the Xfinity Series, thanks to a collaboration between Peterson and Jordan Anderson Racing.

“It ⁤was a dream come true,” Green expressed. “I think I was more shocked ⁣than anything else. I owe a huge thank you to Doug Peterson for believing in me and taking a chance.”

Testing his skills gained from road course racing, Green made his series debut⁢ at the Circuit of The Americas. After starting from 25th, the No. 32 Chevrolet advanced throughout the race, ultimately finishing seventh⁤ after a series of intense restarts.

“I wouldn’t say I was surprised, but I was⁣ trying to grasp everything happening around me,” Green shared. “Just driving⁣ those Xfinity cars is a dream realized, so I had that on my mind, especially as I lined up towards‌ the front for the last restart.”

Green returned to the Xfinity Series for the⁢ Portland race, where he finished in 15th place.⁣ At Sonoma, he differed from the leaders’ strategy and progressed through the field, ⁣ultimately securing a fourth-place finish,‌ which matched Jordan Anderson Racing’s best result of the season.

His recent experience on road courses in the TA2 division certainly benefited him.

In the‌ streets of Chicago, Green achieved another top 10 finish.⁣ During⁢ the recent weekend at Watkins⁤ Glen, he managed to come in 11th position despite being involved ⁢in a last-lap collision. Across five races, he hasn’t placed outside the⁢ top 15.

Team owner Jordan Anderson has‌ known Green for around a decade. He acknowledges that Green’s presence has improved the performance of his full-time drivers, Jeb Burton and Parker Retzlaff, making them more competent on road courses.

“I believe [Green] has ⁣significantly enhanced the quality of our entire program,”

Anderson‍ remarked, “He’s performed exceptionally ‌well on the racetrack. It’s ‍clear he understands ⁣how to seize opportunities. With only a limited‍ number of ⁣starts, he consistently surprises everyone by⁣ finishing in the top 10.”

“That’s essential in this series. He’s ‌excelled at maintaining⁤ the equipment and is continuously improving our road course program. I have high hopes for him moving forward and anticipate he will continue⁢ to build upon his success.”

For Green, ‍the aim during his limited‍ appearances‌ has been to “perform well and leave a positive impression.” He aspires to absorb knowledge ⁣from those around him‍ while also seeking⁣ guidance from his family and close friend, Ty⁤ Gibbs.

Alongside competing in the full Trans-Am schedule‍ and a few Xfinity events, ⁣Green has recently returned to a late model to prepare ‌for upcoming short tracks. He is set⁢ to‍ make his inaugural⁣ Xfinity start on an oval this weekend ⁤at Bristol, with the possibility of driving the No. 32 car again at Martinsville for the second-to-last race of the season.

“I⁤ grew up racing on short tracks; that’s my background,” Green expressed. “The road‌ course⁤ experience is relatively new for me, as last year was my first ⁣season in that realm. I’ll do my best to prepare‌ and give it ⁢my ‌all.”

Green is‌ also not hesitating to aim high. He aspires to create such a ⁤positive impression⁤ that ⁢it could lead to a full-time ride‍ and ultimately advance his career to the Cup‍ Series.
