Martin Truex jr.’s Historic NASCAR Streak Ends After Almost Two Decades
martin Truex Jr.’s remarkable streak of 685 consecutive NASCAR Cup Series starts will come to an end this weekend. Truex, a 2017 NASCAR Cup Series champion, won’t be competing in Sunday’s Ambetter Health 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Truex’s last missed race was on November 20, 2005.He has competed in every single race since the start of the 2006 season until now, a streak that ranks sixth all-time among active drivers.
Truex successfully extended this streak to 685 by competing in the 2025 Daytona 500, his first race since retiring full-time from NASCAR at the end of the 2024 season.While Driving the No. 56 Toyota for Tricon Garage, Truex’s Daytona 500 ended with a wreck, but he made history nonetheless by showing his dedication to the sport.
His current plans for the rest of the 2025 season have not yet been announced.
The Ambetter Health 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway is set to air live on Fox starting at 3:00 p.m. ET.
