Arne Slot has stated that the most significant challenges for Liverpool are still to come, starting with a challenging fixture list that features matches against RB Leipzig and Arsenal this week.
While Slot’s squad managed to navigate their toughest test by defeating Chelsea 2-1 on Sunday, he emphasized that the ability of his players to manage the demanding schedule of both the Champions League and Premier League will ultimately determine their season’s success.
Diogo Jota is uncertain for the upcoming midweek match in Germany after he had to be substituted due to a suspected rib injury.
Reflecting on the match, after goals from Mo Salah (penalty) and Curtis Jones ensured that his team remains a point clear at the top of the league, Slot remarked:
‘I urge you not to judge us based on this game alone; assess us after our next seven matches. We face Leipzig, Arsenal, Brighton twice, Bayer Leverkusen, Aston Villa, and then Real Madrid.

‘To win a league title, there are numerous aspects that must be executed exceptionally well, no matter where in the world you are.’
Both coaches felt wronged by some controversial decisions during the match.
Slot expressed that referee John Brooks appeared to strive not to be swayed by the Anfield atmosphere. The Reds’ manager received a booking after Mo Salah was denied a penalty, while a penalty initially awarded for Robert Sanchez’s challenge on Jones was later overturned by VAR.
Ultimately, however, Chelsea felt they had a stronger case regarding Alexander-Arnold’s foul on Jadon Sancho’s ankle that went unpunished, shortly before Levi Colwill was penalized for a minor infringement on Jones.

Slot’s team managed to overcome their toughest challenge yet, defeating in-form Chelsea 2-1 on Sunday
Following his team’s first league loss since the season opener, Blues boss Enzo Maresca remarked:
‘I am calm because I am pleased with the team’s performance.
‘The referee’s decisions have been clear to me and everyone else. However, the referee is there to make judgments, and sometimes they are correct, while other times they may not be.’
