ARCA Keeps the Race Alive: What to Watch During NASCAR’s Summer Break

The 2024 Summer Olympics have kicked off in⁤ Paris, leaving motorsport enthusiasts⁤ missing NASCAR ⁣during this quiet interval. ‍You may ​be wondering ⁢why there’s a pause ‍in the action.

NASCAR’s main​ broadcaster, NBC, ⁣along with its⁤ cable⁤ affiliates, has shifted its focus entirely to the ‍global ⁤sporting⁤ spectacle, temporarily⁢ halting all NASCAR series including the Cup ‌Series, Xfinity ⁢Series, and ‍Trucks Series. However, not all racing disciplines are taking a break.

Tomorrow marks the airing⁤ of Formula 1’s Belgian Grand ⁤Prix—the last race before the summer holidays for​ its⁤ 20 drivers and 10 teams. This event ⁢also presents Ferrari’s‍ Charles Leclerc with an opportunity to secure his ⁣second victory of⁤ the 2024 season. But one series remains dedicated to satisfying ‌our ‍need for speed: ‌the‌ Automobile Racing Club of America ⁢(ARCA).

Under NASCAR ownership since 2018, ARCA will host several races⁤ during NASCAR’s hiatus. Among these⁤ is the Salem‌ ARCA 200 at the historic Salem Speedway ⁣located in southern Indiana.⁤ Set for an 8 PM EDT ⁣start ⁤on Saturday night, this race will ⁢be broadcast live ⁤on Fox Sports ⁤1 (FS1) and will also be available for streaming via ⁣the Fox​ Sports app.

For those who may not know much about it yet, ⁣ARCA has ‍been‍ a staple ⁣of ‌American motorsports since its inception in​ 1953; it⁣ often serves as a launching ‍pad for drivers looking⁣ to advance into NASCAR. Regularly competing at renowned tracks such ‌as Daytona, Watkins⁢ Glen, Charlotte, and Bristol; ARCA usually kicks off its ‌season alongside NASCAR during Daytona week—a blend of new talent and seasoned ⁢racers presented at significantly lower costs⁤ than their NASCAR counterparts—around only ten percent of‌ what it takes to compete within​ that vast series.

This⁤ current season showcases standout racers William‍ Sawalich and Connor Zilisch – both achieving three victories each—Sawalich across six outings while Zilisch managed three wins out from‍ his ⁢initial races. ‌Nevertheless, leading points standings is⁢ Andres ⁣Perez⁤ from Mexico City who boasts four finishes within top-five positions along with nine top-ten placements out of ten starts⁢ illustrating⁤ remarkable consistency throughout this season.

While ARCA is sure to sustain us for some time ahead; preparations are already⁣ underway at NASCAR ‍for a solid comeback‍ soon enough!
