Aaron Judge hits 48th homer for Yankees in 2024

⁢ ‍ ‍ “It‌ felt ‍like this⁣ all year, even in April,” Judge remarked. “I’m just focused on being consistent, repeating my swing. I try not to⁤ overthink things. If⁤ I don’t get ⁤good pitches, my job is to pass the baton. With the talent we have, ‍like [Juan] Soto⁢ hitting ahead of me and [Austin] Wells doing well in the ‍cleanup spot, it simplifies my job.
⁤

“I aim to do my part, get on base, and if there are runners⁤ on, drive them ⁣in. Being surrounded by those players ‌helps ⁣me focus.”

Judge has homered in all three games against the Guardians, ⁢totaling six ⁤home⁤ runs in his past seven games since August⁤ 14. Since July 26, he⁣ has⁤ hit 13 home runs in‍ 24‌ games, and 16⁢ in 33 games since July 12.

“That’s what the best in the world does, makes it look easy,”⁢ Stanton commented. “We’re‌ all feeding ‌off his energy, and he continues to amaze us night after night. I’m glad he’s on our ⁢team.”

⁣ NEW YORK⁣ — Two of the most renowned numbers in Yankees history‌ are 60 and ⁤61, the legendary home run totals‍ connected to Babe Ruth and Roger Maris, ⁣respectively. The franchise has⁣ yet to see a player hit 60 or more home runs in ‍multiple seasons, a feat that ‌Aaron Judge is⁢ currently approaching.

NEW YORK — Among the most significant figures in Yankees⁢ history are 60 and‌ 61, representing⁣ the legendary home run totals of⁤ Babe Ruth and⁣ Roger Maris,⁤ respectively. Notably, the franchise has not had a player achieve 60 or more ‍home ‌runs in multiple seasons—a milestone that Aaron ‍Judge is currently on ⁣the brink⁤ of.

Judge is maintaining an extraordinary pace, hitting⁤ his ‍Major League-leading 48th home run during Thursday’s 6-0 victory over the Guardians, ‍which was an opposite-field shot against Gavin Williams in the fourth inning.

“If⁣ it ⁤leads to ⁢a ring and plenty of excitement in the playoffs, that would be fantastic,” Judge expressed. “My focus is on doing everything possible each ⁣day to put us in a‍ favorable position‍ to win, especially against Cleveland, as we’re likely‍ to face‍ them again later.”

“`

Yankees‍ manager Aaron ⁢Boone remarked that “we’re ⁤currently in the on-pace segment of the season,” and he has good reason to think so. Judge is one of only ‌three Yankees who have hit at least‍ 48 homers in the team’s first 128 games of the year—he reached 49 in ⁣2022, ‍while both Ruth (51 in 1921) and Maris (50 in 1961) achieved similar feats.

“It ⁣feels like he’s operating at another level,” stated Yankees designated‍ hitter Giancarlo Stanton. “This recent stretch has been incredible, and I anticipate that these⁢ next five weeks will ⁣be just as thrilling.”

Boone added, “I believe he aims for‌ greatness every day and⁢ wants to contribute to our victories, so nothing he does would shock me.”

Currently, Judge leads Major League Baseball in home runs, RBIs (118), on-base percentage (.465), slugging percentage (.726), ⁣extra-base hits (79), and total⁣ bases ⁢(326). This impressive statistical performance is even⁤ more noteworthy considering Judge had to overcome a slow start this season.

“No one can ⁢match him,⁢ certainly not anyone currently active,‍ except for [Barry] ‌Bonds.‌ It’s a fantastic experience to have him on our team and be in his presence.”

Over his last 99 games, dating back to⁢ April 27, Judge has recorded‍ a batting line of .379/.507/.833⁢ (132 for ⁤348), scored 132‍ runs, and achieved 24 doubles, 44 home ⁣runs, and 105 RBIs. Judge is the first player in Major League history

“`html

to bat at least .375 with a minimum⁢ of 44 home runs over a 99-game period in a⁣ single season.

“I’ve felt this way all year long, even back ‌to April,” Judge remarked.⁢ “I aim to maintain ⁤consistency, repeating my swing. I try not to overthink ⁤it.⁢ If I don’t see any good⁣ pitches, I need to pass the baton.⁣ With‍ teammates like [Juan] Soto hitting ahead of me and [Austin] Wells swinging‍ well in ⁢the cleanup position, my job ‌becomes simpler.

“My objective is to do my part, get on base, and if there are runners, bring them in. Having those players around me helps me stay focused.”

Besides homering in all three games‍ during the Bombers’‌ series win over the Guardians, Judge has hit six homers in his last seven games since ⁢August 14, totaling 13 homers in 24 games since July 26 and 16 in 33 games⁢ since July 12.

“That’s what‌ the best players in⁢ the ‌world do; they ⁢make it look⁤ effortless,” Stanton said. “We all‌ draw energy from that, and ‌he continues to astonish us every night. I’m thrilled he’s on our team.”
