Second Varsity 8 Overcomes Equipment Failure
The second varsity 8 encountered unexpected difficulties in their first race against RIT. Approaching the 1,000-meter mark, the boat struck submerged debris, causing the skeg to detach. Coxswain Kaelyn Morandi was forced to steer using only her arms. Despite the setback, the Bombers persevered, but RIT managed to narrowly win by 10 seconds with a time of 7 minutes, 39.6 seconds.
Undeterred, the Bombers returned for the second round, displaying renewed determination. They delivered a strong performance, finishing in 7 minutes, 25.2 seconds, significantly ahead of Rochester.

With Rochester and RIT unable to field a third varsity 8, Ithaca’s 3V competed against William Smith.
