On Saturday, former New York Islanders trainer Joe McMahon, joined by alumni, family, and friends, teed off at the Middle Island Country Club for the 23rd Annual McMahon Family Golf Outing.
Since its inception in 2001, following the loss of his mother Lee to brain cancer and his 18-month-old son Aidan to liver complications, Joe and his brothers Tom and Mike have raised nearly $2 million to support the Hospice Care Network and American Liver Foundation.

“He holds a significant place in my heart. We’ve been friends for around 25 years,” Lapointe reflected. “After losing his son, we developed an even closer bond. I was glad to be there for him—to provide comfort and support whenever he needed it. Each time he wanted someone to talk or cry with, I made sure I was available. He’s one of my closest friends.”
