He has made pivotal plays when the Chiefs required it, and his impressive deep speed has created opportunities for other receivers. While he has only recorded 19 catches over seven games, it’s likely that with time, his contributions will increase as he continues to develop, given that he is only 21 years old. — Adam Teicher

Best offseason addition: Kicker Jake Bates
Bates joined the Lions as a free agent in June following a season in the UFL and a brief period with the Texans in 2023. He earned the title of NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 7 after successfully kicking a game-winning 44-yard field goal with just 15 seconds remaining, securing a win against Minnesota. Top offseason acquisition: Safety Xavier McKinney
This choice was challenging due to the significant impact from running back Josh Jacobs, quarterback Malik Willis, and rookie defenders Javon Bullard, Evan Williams, and Edgerrin Cooper. However, McKinney has been instrumental in shifting the mindset of this takeaway-focused defense by leading the league with six interceptions. The Packers have already forced more turnovers (19) in just eight games than they did throughout the entire previous season. — Rob Demovsky
Week 8 result: Defeated the Colts 23-20
Week 8 ranking: 7
Top offseason acquisition: Running back Joe Mixon
Mixon is currently averaging 100.6 rushing yards a game, which ranks third in the NFL. He provides a crucial boost to the offense, especially when the Texans’ passing game faces difficulties, helping to keep quarterback C.J. Stroud away from challenging third-and-long scenarios. The team’s scoring average rises to 26.8 points with Mixon on the field compared to 18.0 in the three games he missed due to an ankle injury. Other offseason additions such as wide receiver Stefon Diggs and defensive end Danielle Hunter have also been effective, but Mixon’s contributions have been slightly more pivotal to the team’s success. – DJ Bien-Aime

Currently, he leads the league with 946 rushing yards and has scored 11 touchdowns, finding the end zone in each of Baltimore’s initial eight games while displaying his speed with an impressive league-high of 13 runs exceeding 15 yards. Across five games, he recorded a half sack, two tackles for loss, and a pressure that resulted in a Kirk Cousins interception during a Week 7 victory over Atlanta. — Brady Henderson
Week 8 result: Lost to the Commanders 18-15
Week 8 ranking: 14
Best offseason addition: Quarterback Caleb Williams
It’s fair to say that without Williams, the Bears would have struggled to secure a victory in Washington. The quarterback led a significant 10-play, 62-yard drive, converting a crucial third-down throw to receiver Rome Odunze that resulted in a go-ahead touchdown prior to Washington’s Hail Mary attempt. As the No. 1 pick, Williams has transformed the Bears’ offense in ways that have seldom, if ever, been witnessed from a Chicago quarterback. His consistent improvement from week to week reaffirms that the Bears made an excellent decision. — Courtney Cronin
Week 8 result: Defeated the Panthers 28-14
Week 8 ranking: 17
Best offseason addition: Defensive end John Franklin-Myers
Although rookie quarterback Bo Nix is making strides, it’s still uncertain whether Russell Wilson or Jarrett Stidham would have performed equally well with the Broncos’ formidable defense. Franklin-Myers, obtained in a trade with the Jets during draft weekend, has enabled others along the defensive front to take on roles that better suit their skills. Zach Allen, who is having an All-Pro-level season at defensive end, credits Franklin-Myers’ arrival for significantly contributing to his own outstanding performance. The Broncos now have 12 players with at least half a sack and boast the highest pass-rush win rate in the league at 55.8%. — Jeff Legwold

He ranks fifth in the NFL for pass rush win rate among interior defenders at 13.3%. Best offseason addition: Running back Braelon Allen
As veteran acquisitions have not met expectations, we highlight the rookie. Allen, selected in the fourth round, has been a valuable asset alongside Breece Hall in the backfield. With three touchdowns (two rushing and one receiving) while participating in approximately 15-20 snaps per game, he’s contributing effectively. He is on track to surpass the franchise rookie receiving records held by Justin Blackmon (64 catches, 865 yards in 2012) and Allen Hurns (six TD catches in 2014). Unfortunately, he sustained a chest/rib injury during the game against Green Bay, which could affect his future performance depending on the recovery time. Averaging 17.4 yards per catch, Thomas has introduced a crucial downfield threat that the Jaguars have lacked since the days of Allen Robinson (2014-17). — Michael DiRocco
Week 8 result: Lost to the Lions 52-14

In an effort to enhance the interior of the offensive line that allowed 35 sacks last season, Hunt and fellow guard Damien Lewis were signed. This strategy has proven effective for the Panthers. In 2023, Carolina allowed a total of 65 sacks, while in 2024, that number has significantly dropped to just 16, placing them tied for ninth in the NFL. Hunt has also played a vital role in boosting the run game, boasting a 75.3% run block win rate, which ranks second among linemen. — David Newton
