Garet Williamson (Tylan Porath photo)
BRANDON, S.D. — On Sunday at Huset’s Speedway during The Border Battle presented by Nordstrom’s Automotive, Garet Williamson, Gaige Weldon, and Cory Yeigh all celebrated victory.
Williamson clinched the $7,500 first-place prize in the Cressman Sanitation 410 Outlaw Sprint Cars main event with a dramatic pass in traffic late in the race. With this win, he became the first driver to achieve multiple victories in this division at the track this season.
“That was probably the most enjoyable experience I’ve had at this place or really anywhere,” he reflected. “When I looked up and saw there were ten laps remaining while sitting third or fourth, I pushed myself hard. Wow! That was an incredible experience.”
Brendan Mullen led for eight laps before Chase Randall seized control amid lapped cars on lap nine. By lap twenty, despite Mullen holding second place still on track behind Randall who held a lead of over a second and a half more than Williamson passed him. A few laps later on lap twenty-four; Williamson executed a slide job through turns one and two that propelled him to victory.
This marked Randall’s fourth second-place finish of the season at Huset’s Speedway.
“That one stings just a bit,” he admitted. “I’m pleased with our performance tonight—it’s great to secure another solid finish—but it does hurt slightly because I feel like that opportunity slipped away since I was too cautious navigating through lapped traffic.”
Kerry Madsen completed the podium finishes.
<p“I believed we had an excellent race car,” he expressed. “It feels great to earn a spot on the podium.”
Mullen wrapped up fourth place while Tim Kaeding ended fifth.
The RaceSaver Sprint Car Series A Main saw yet another driver claim victory as Nicholas Winter led all twenty circuits making it his first career win at Huset’s Speedway—marking him as the ninth different victor across nine races so far this season.
<p“That feels amazing,” Winter shared excitedly. “It means so much to me as we have been striving for several weeks now without much luck.”
Nicholas Winter succeeded with a second-place finish; Ryan Serrao took third; Amelia Eisenschenk secured fourth; while Brady Donnohue started twelfth but managed to rise into fifth place.
Cory Yeigh established himself as well by achieving three wins at Huset’s Speedway this season after topping out in the twenty-lap Nordstrom’s Automotive Late Model Street Stocks feature event.
The race initially began with Brandon Ferguson leading for four laps until catching an infield berm which caused his car to spin around dramatically towards turns three and four; J.J. Zebell—who held fifth place—had no choice but to crash into Ferguson because of limited space available due placing himself right behind Ferguson during disruption time leading straight into collision territory!
The final results:
