“Regarding his shooting — a rate of 40 percent or higher is definitely within his reach. He’ll find himself with numerous open shots. Having put in the work, his confidence and trust in himself will only continue to develop and improve.”
During his last 29 games with the Mavs, Washington averaged 11.7 points and 6.2 rebounds while shooting 31.4 percent from beyond the arc. In the playoffs, over 22 games, he averaged 13 points and 6.6 rebounds, making 34.8 percent of his three-point attempts.
“For PJ, the focus needs to be on building upon his prior performance,” Kidd stated. “If you consider what he achieved shooting the ball last year, as well as defensively in the post.
“The next phase is for him to take on the responsibility of bringing the ball up the court. He needs to secure the rebound and avoid always looking for Luka (Doncic) or (Kyrie Irving). We have faith in his playmaking abilities as well. We expect him to replicate last season’s success and grow from there.”
