Umbrian Judo Thrives: Regional Committee renews Commitment to Growth
PERUGIA – Umbrian judo is experiencing a period of significant growth and success, driven by the dedication of regional clubs and the Fijlkam (Italian Judo, Wrestling, Karate and Martial Arts Federation) committee. The recent re-election of Andrea Arena as regional committee president and Robertino Camilli as head of the regional judo sector underscores a continued commitment to developing the sport within the region.
Camilli: Post-COVID resurgence
“A new four-year period is beginning,” says Camilli, “which will see us committed to trying to further grow our regional movement, which in the post-COVID period has started up again in a more than dignified way. The Umbrian athletes have had prominence at a national and international level, demonstrating that even our region can have its say.”
Unified and Active Region
The strength of the regional movement is evident in well-attended regional gatherings, such as the one held on April 12th. the event saw strong participation across age categories, from youth to masters levels.
“The open participation from the Ragazzi categories up to the Masters allows the young people of the region to compare themselves with those who have different experiences and to grow,” explains Camilli.
Dario Dionisi has been reconfirmed as Regional Technical Commissioner. Alessandro Binucci has been appointed as Head of the Regional Technical Center, succeeding Stefano Poeta, who was thanked by Camilli for his work.
Future Projects
Camilli affirmed, “We will primarily continue with the regional gatherings. We still have the one in May to carry out, then, at the end of June, the return of the Central Italy Stage is scheduled, planned from June 27th to 29th.”
