VOORHEES, N.J. — On Wednesday, Eetu Makiniemi, who participated in the Flyers’ training camp as part of a professional tryout, signed a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000 with the team.
The 25-year-old Finnish goaltender is stepping in for Alexei Kolosov, a 22-year-old prospect who failed to report to camp. Makiniemi is expected to begin the season sharing responsibilities with Cal Petersen in the AHL affiliate, Lehigh Valley.
A fourth-round selection by the Hurricanes in 2017, Makiniemi appeared in two games with the Sharks during the 2022-23 season.
