2) On Wednesday (August 7, 2024), the Flyers along with Flyers Charities will collaborate with New Hanover Township officials to hold a community celebration marking the official dedication and opening of a ball hockey rink at Community Park from 4:00 p.m. EDT to 8:00 p.m. EDT.
The opening ceremony will take place between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. EDT, featuring speeches from township representatives as well as figures from Flyers Charities. We’re also welcoming pre-teens Natalie Van Druff and Lilly Walker, who highlighted the urgent need to repair their local ball hockey rink which was seriously deteriorating.
This past June, Flyers Charities contributed $200,000 towards Natalie and Lilly Walter’s initiative to transform an unsafe asphalt rink enclosed by chain-link fencing into a safer environment for children to enjoy ball hockey. The donation facilitated significant renovations including new flooring and boards, benches, penalty boxes, as well as brand-new hockey nets.
