Fantasy Premier League (FPL) may have suggested some major upcoming rule changes through their latest Fantasy Challenge series.
Could we be on the verge of witnessing FPL’s most significant scoring system overhaul since its launch in the early 2000s, with factors like interceptions and shots on target being added to the mix?
Recentemente, abbiamo assistito a serie a tema. Nelle Gameweek 5-7, ad esempio, l’attenzione era su giocatori provenienti dalle Americhe, dall’Africa e dall’Asia-Pacifico, rispettivamente.
QUALI SONO LE SFIDE FANTASY IN ARRIVO?
Nelle Gameweek 8-11, le sfide saranno le seguenti:
- Gameweek 8 – Ball Winners: Intercettazioni e contrasti valgono 1 punto, recuperi 1 punto
- Gameweek 9 – Playmakers: Passaggi chiave e cross valgono 2 punti
- Gameweek 10 – Foul Play: I falli subiti valgono 2 punti, i falli concessi -1 punto
- Gameweek 11 – Accuracy: Tiri in porta valgono 3 punti
PERCHÉ È IMPORTANTE PER FPL?

“Participate in shaping the future of Fantasy Premier League by getting involved in our experiments. This series of tests focuses on acquiring points through various players and different playstyles. Which new FPL assets will become essential?”
It is possible that the creators of the game are attempting to assess user responses to a broader scoring system before potentially introducing it in FPL for the 2025/26 season.
Bonuses for ball recoveries, shots on target, key passes, and tackles are already integrated into platforms like UCL Fantasy and Fantasy EFL.
FPL may be, albeit slowly, joining this trend.
WHICH PLAYERS WOULD GAIN FROM THE NEW BONUS POINTS?
If you’re participating in the upcoming four Gameweeks of the Fantasy Challenge or are simply interested in who might benefit from the new bonus points, here are the top players for each category (click each image to enlarge) sourced from the official site:
RECOVERIES, TACKLES AND INTERCEPTIONS<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="993" height="773" data-id="125283" src="https://cdn.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/image-96.png" alt="FPL hint at future scoring changes with latest Fantasy Challenge 2" class="wp-image-125283 webpexpress-processed" srcset="https://cdn.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/wp-content
28 behind Sanchez, he stands out as the top-performing non-goalkeeper across the combined metrics of the three tables above, amassing a total of 72 recoveries, tackles, and interceptions.
Cristian Romero (£5.1m) follows closely behind the Manchester United full-back with 64.
As expected, defenders and screening midfielders perform exceptionally well overall. For instance, Ryan Gravenberch (£5.0m) matches Romero’s tally with 64 recoveries, tackles, and interceptions.
A key argument for expanding the scoring system is to elevate players like Gravenberch from mere Fantasy footnotes to serious considerations.
CROSSES AND KEY PASSES
Dwight McNeil (£5.7m) would see his value rise significantly if players received incentives for crosses and key passes, having achieved a total of 31 this season.
No other player has surpassed this, although Bukayo Saka (£10.1m) matches the Everton winger’s mark.
Pedro Porro (£5.5m) leads among defenders with 24.
Additional bonus points could greatly benefit players like McNeil, who frequently sees teammates waste the opportunities he creates.
FOULS CONCEDED AND WON
Fans of Newcastle can attest to the press-resistance of Bruno Guimaraes (£6.3m), a quality prominently reflected in the tables above.
Even after accounting for deductions due to fouls committed, he would gain an additional 42 points from fouls drawn. Close behind is teammate Anthony Gordon (£7.3m), who has drawn 40 fouls.
On the other hand, Lewis Cook (£5.0m) finds himself at the bottom of the list, having only won a single foul while conceding a league-high of 18.
At the top of the shots on target leaderboard, we see some well-known names. Erling Haaland (£15.4m) leads the pack with 23 shots directly on target.
He has managed over double the efforts on target compared to any other player, with the exception of Mohamed Salah (£12.7m), who has 15.
We’d love to hear your opinions on the proposed changes to the scoring system referenced above, as well as any additional suggestions for improvements to FPL.
