Mexican Federation Vows to Defend World Cup Slots Amid León Uncertainty
Mexico.- The Federación Mexicana de Futbol (FMF) will fight to maintain its three allocated slots in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, particularly if Club León fails to secure its place.
“Technically,we will push for that. FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee has the power to define quotas for each league; we will, of course, defend our three spaces,” stated Mikel Arriola, head of the FMF, upon arriving in Mexico from the United States.
Arriola added, “We are very attentive. This is a legal process that must be supported by the League adn Federation. there will be a challenge. We will be attentive and wait.”

Arriola noted that the FMF is in constant communication with Club León. “I have been in contact with Grupo Pachuca since this decision was known, but I think we all have to be very cautious and wait for a process between all parties, in this case between a club and FIFA: we will be following it closely.”

Arriola stated that Javier Aguirre’s process “is sending very positive signals. He has a group where there is stability, great professionalism with the presence of Rafael Márquez. The players are absolutely committed and are having a great moment. What remains for us as a federation is to take advantage of the moment and support everything.”
